What is Medikal?
Medikal is an AI-powered health assistant developed collaboratively by AMR Initiative Rwanda and ZeroX Intelligence, a pioneering Rwandan-Canadian AI company. This platform supports clinicians and patients in improving diagnosis accuracy, managing medication adherence, and ensuring responsible antimicrobial use—all in Kinyarwanda and other local languages.

- Symptom & History Analysis: Combines patient symptoms and medical history to offer accurate diagnosis suggestions and reduce unnecessary antibiotic use.
- Multilingual Support: Fully available in Kinyarwanda and English to serve diverse communities.
- Medication Reminders: Automated alerts encourage treatment adherence and reduce misuse.
- AI Image Analysis: Camera-powered analysis of medical images like skin or wound assessments.
Our Goal
Medikal aims to improve patient outcomes, reduce antimicrobial misuse, and build capacity among health workers. By embedding AI into clinical workflows, we are transforming healthcare delivery in Rwanda and beyond.
